The true lavender<\/strong><\/span>(Lavandula angustifolia<\/i>) and lavandin<\/strong> <\/a><\/span>(Lavandula x intermedia<\/i>) are two very popular plants in the fields of perfumery, aromatherapy and cosmetics. Although visually similar and often used in the same contexts, they present significant differences in terms of botany, chemistry, cultivation and use. <\/p>\n

Lavandin is a natural hybrid between true lavender and spike lavender(Lavandula latifolia<\/i>). Lavandin is sturdier and taller than true lavender, with longer stems and generally larger flowers, hence the name lavandin grosso<\/span>. <\/p>\n

It has a higher camphor and eucalyptol content, giving it a stronger, camphorated fragrance. These components make it less suitable for certain therapeutic uses, notably for relaxation, but more effective for use as an insect repellent or antiseptic. <\/p>\n
